Even the best-equipped, state-of-the-art gym can’t beat breaking a sweat outdoors.
Maybe you powered through your winter fitness routine in the gym. Or yourmotivation crumbled in the cold...but you’re ready to get back in the groove. Wherever you’re at, why not take it outside this spring?
Lacing up your trainers and heading for the great outdoors comes with a load of health benefits.Experts suggestthat compared to indoor exercise, going al fresco increases feelings of revitalization, energy and mental wellbeing. At the same time, it decreases tension, confusion, anger, and depression.
*You’re also more likely to repeat your outdoor workouts. We know that exercise releases endorphins, adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine. The “happiness” chemicals that combine to give us a feel-good factor. Throw in a bright blue sky and some countryside, and it’s a natural high you’ll want to return to. All to help you stay motivated, stick with your routine, and reach your goals.
But not everyone has an exercise-friendly green space on their doorstep. And springtime weather isn’t always perfect. So if you can’t get outside, staying active indoors is still great for mind and body. And why not freshen up your routine with new exercises, different equipment, or trying a sporting activity you’ve never done before?
